At Pet Promise we think of ourselves as part of the movement toward a sustainable future for both our country and our planet. So it was only natural that when a bus bound in the same direction should come our way, we’d enthusiastically hop aboard!

And, yes, we’re literally talking about a bus -- one fueled by recycled vegetable oil! It’s the official “Veggie Bus” of the Conscious Goods Alliance, a select, world-class coalition of conscientious companies that share the same commitment to making things better for you, your pet and the planet. (Participants in this year's tour, along with Pet Promise, will include such progressive organizations as Whole Foods Market, other natural retailers and sponsors of environmentally-oriented events.

A transformation of transportation

Pet Promise is so excited to have partnered again for another year-long, cross-country tour, that we're having our own representative, Blake, go along. The 2008 itinerary will include more than 100 cities starting March 13 and running through March 16, 2009. Blake will be sending back regular updates and photos of the tour, which will include stops at Whole Foods Markets, street festivals, concerts and many other environmentally conscious events across the country. The more such places we go, the more we can succeed in spreading the word on how transportation can be transformed so as to have minimal impact on our environment and resources. And a little knowledge of that sort, when spread around to enough people, can be a powerful engine of change!

But that's not the only aspect of our group's 'green machine' we'll be showing off to visitors. They'll also get a chance to view some of the interior features of the bus, such as the photovoltaic solar electricity process used to power its computers, sound system and television, it’s all-organic renewable kitchen, and its natural-material interior.

While we're gratified to see how much Pet Promise and its customers are accomplishing to help improve the quality of life in both our world and our communities, we're always looking for ways to do more. The Veggie Bus is yet another 'vehicle ' that allows us to demonstrate that it's entirely possible to change things for the better -- and we take pride in being able to go along for the ride!
