A ‘pawspective’ on Earth Day
Being all of a foot tall when standing on my four legs (which is the way I usually stand, except when I stand up on two legs to get some Pet Promise Jerky Strips), I’m in a very good position to know a few things about Earth.
My ‘pawspective’ is mostly gained via my nose, which is my most prominent feature, and one I use for both poking people and getting a whiff of the terrain. And, believe me, my nose knows everything about the Earth – or at least whatever part of it is beneath my paws at any particular time.
| So the way I plan to celebrate Earth Day is to invite over some of my canine colleagues to romp in my backyard, running, rolling and playing on sweet-smelling grass dotted with dandelions (which I believe is one way to tell if it’s a dog-friendly lawn). Not all grass is, I’m told. In fact, I’ve been instructed by my person to steer clear of any that has little white flags on it. |

Another way to mark the occasion is to make sure your cupboard contains an ample supply of Pet Promise. Feeding it to your dog for just one year can help eliminate more than 2,000 doses of antibiotics fed to chickens and cattle and over 670 doses of artificial growth hormones given to cattle. At the same time you’ll be providing your best friend with natural beef or chicken from U.S. family farmers (and absolutely no chicken or meat meal).
That could make every day Earth Day!
I could tell you more, but the birds are singing and the warm sun is inviting me outside. Talk later.

On the road again!
For me, there's just nothing as exciting as the prospect of a road trip. Since I usually fall asleep after the first half hour, I'm never sure how far I've traveled, but I do like going places. Aside from my flight to New Jersey from Oklahoma when I was a puppy, the longest trip I've been on so far was to a Bichon picnic. I'm not sure how long a trip it was since I slept most of the way, but it seemed pretty far from home.
I can usually tell the difference when I'm going on a ride to the park or beach versus a trip to the vet. Not that I mind that much going to see my vet, since he's very nice and always gets down on the floor to talk to me, but it's the prospect of the open road that makes me bark with joy. That's why when I found out about a road trip Pet Promise is part of, I really got excited.
Here's the scoop; Pet Promise has joined up with the 2007 Conscious Goods Alliance "Veggie Bus" tour.
The bus runs on vegetable oil, uses solar energy to power its computers, lights and television and the inside is furnished with recycled and renewable materials.
Although I won't be going along on the ride (I would probably miss my cats too much), one of the Pet Promise Green Team members is, and will be sending back reports from the road. |
Here I am, ready for travel. They make me wear this special doggie seat belt. I can lay down and nap or sit up and look out, but no more head-out-the-window stuff.
|
Click here to see more about the veggie bus, and if it's coming your way, be sure to come by and say hi (you can get a free sample of Pet Promise too).
I could tell you more, but someone has taken out the car keys. Maybe I'll get to go for a ride! Talk later.

Feline housemates, part III
In February, I told you about two of the cats I live with, Leilani and Skeezix. Well here's the skinny on big Pumpkin, another feline with whom I share space.
Pumpkin, so I'm told, was adopted by my person when he was just a tiny kitten. (This was all before my time, but Leilani remembers every detail). For a while, he was a sick kitty; pretty small, too. It was just one thing after another with him. He was put on lots of different antibiotics, and nothing seemed to work until one day, when he started eating better and playing. That was the turning point for Pumpkin. Each day he got better -- and bigger.
Now Pumpkin weighs in at around 18 pounds, the biggest cat I've ever seen. Here are the facts, as I know them, regarding my tabby-striped orange friend:
Name: Pumpkin; also goes by "the orange paperweight."
Found: On a Halloween night around seven years ago under my person's car.
Distinguished by: His laid-back personality and tendency to snore.
Favorite game: Finding something on the floor (a leaf, dropped item or piece of paper) batting it around and then putting it under the rug.
Favorite food: Pet Promise Wild Salmon Formula.
Silliest thing he does: Sits on top of papers, glasses, pens, just about anything you might put down, Pumpkin will sit on it.
How I help: Pumpkin often gets himself trapped in closets (guess he sneaks in to take a nap, then the door gets closed). If I don't see him around for a while, I check out all the closets to see if he's stuck. |

I could tell you more, but I need a nap before bedtime. Talk later.
